Mayor Mike Spano, along with Kim and Stew Leonard from "Stew Leonard's" supermarket chain, gathered at the Amackassin Club on Palisades Avenue this week for a press conference to promote water safety awareness in the City of Yonkers.

Kim and Stew Leonard founded the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation after they tragically lost their 21 month old son in 1989 to a drowning accident.  Since that time, the foundation has raised more than $3 million dollars to go towards water safety awareness and education, including lifeguard training and and providing over 10,000 free or low-cost swimming lessons to children every year.
